Silico Manganese is widely used as an alloying agent in the manufacture of steel. Although it is required in small quantities, it provides the necessary toughness and hardness to steel; and hence is a critical ingredient for steel making.

Manganese is an essential component of quality steel – as it reduces the harmful effects of sulphur, improves hardness and increases tensile strength of steel.

Silicon acts as a de-oxidizer by aiding in the release of undesirable trapped gases during steel making. It also helps in increasing the tensile strength and resistance to high temperature oxidation of steel products such as rebars, wire rods etc.
